The carabinieri of Syracuse have executed a decree of confiscation of 50% of the share capital of a transport company based in Catania, believed to belong to Ciro Fisicaro, a prominent member of the Nardo di Lentini clan according to the military. The economic value is estimated at around 2 million euros.

The measure, issued by the Court of Appeal of Catania, is the result of an asset investigation launched in 2011 by the military of the investigative unit, coordinated by the Etna Anti-Mafia District Directorate.

The company operates in the transportation sector of fruit and vegetable products from Sicily to the entire national territory. According to the Anti-Mafia District Directorate, Fisicaro, who has been in custody for over 20 years after being arrested together with boss Sebastiano Nardo for a series of murders and mafia association, managed the business of the transport company from prison, which is registered under the name of his cousin Giuseppe Mauceri, brother of Mario, who was already convicted for mafia association and killed in 2009 in Agnone Bagni.

Already in 2013, the investigative activity led to the preventive seizure of numerous assets and companies, as well as the arrest of a man to whom the company shares had been fraudulently transferred (according to ANSA).
