A 68-year-old agricultural worker has been reported by the police in Pantelleria for arson in the “Rekhale” district along Nikà street. To extinguish the fire a few days ago, firefighting teams from the Region of Sicily, the patrol of the Sicilian regional forestry corps, and a Canadair aircraft had intervened. The police discovered that the ignition point of the fire originated from within a private property. The farmer had set fire to piles of plant material, and the flames had spread uncontrollably, burning approximately 3 hectares of uncultivated land and Mediterranean vegetation.
