Alice Grassi’s provocation: “Name the park in Palermo after Ciancimino”

32 years ago, entrepreneur Libero Grassi was murdered for his rebellious spirit. His daughter, Alice Grassi, speaks out about the still unfinished works of Parco Grassi, one of the largest green areas in Palermo, which has never opened to the public and has become a place of degradation and crime. The executive project is ready, and the funding of 11 million euros is available, but the works have not started. Alice provocatively suggests naming the park after Vito Ciancimino, a symbol of the sack of Palermo. There will be a meeting with Alice and the Parco Libero association to discuss the progress, described as “very positive” by the urban regeneration assessor, Maurizio Carta. However, the Grassi family remains skeptical and suspicious due to past unfulfilled promises and delays in area redevelopment.
