Alcamo Marina’s Beach Cleanup Initiative with Metal Detectors: Volunteers’ Effort

A group of volunteers called “SOS Metal Detector” has been using geotechnical equipment to search for lost objects, buried waste, missing persons, and even archaeological artifacts on the coastline of Alcamo Marina in Sicily. In collaboration with the local government, the volunteers discovered numerous bottle caps, cans, and other peculiar items buried for decades under the sand. The initiative, supported by the regional government and various organizations, aims to clean up the beaches and assist law enforcement agencies in their search efforts.
