Special robots, electronic programs, and state-of-the-art equipment alongside new training and prevention systems: the new frontiers to stop workplace fatalities were presented at the National Labor Festival in the presence of government officials, companies, and representatives of the labor sector. Concerning data emerged: one in three workers do not feel informed about accident prevention measures, especially in Sicily and for workers over 50. And two in five workers do not feel safe because they believe their company pays little attention to prevention. A study by the Piepoli Institute presented at the meeting also shows that one-third of workers believe that properly regulated artificial intelligence can be of great help. The association of small and medium-sized enterprises, Conflavoro, speaking at the Florence Festival, urged institutions to urgently implement any necessary measures to make work safer. “Artificial intelligence can do a lot, but precise rules are needed,” says the regional secretary and national vice president of Conflavoro, Giuseppe Pullara, who adds: “I agreed with Labor Minister Marina Calderone on the need to always maintain a vision in which human beings are at the center of all reflections.” For Pullara, the tragedy of Casteldaccia and the ongoing cases of workplace fatalities “require concrete and decisive actions, especially in a territory like Sicily facing enormous difficulties.”
