The project was presented in these days along the Palermo-Cefalù section, aboard vintage French carriages from the 1920s
From 2023 Agrigento and the area of the Valle dei Templi Tourist District they will be stages of two of the three Sicilian itineraries of the “Il Treno della Dolce Vita” project, a mixture of luxury and territory. The train was presented these days along the Palermo-Cefalù route, aboard French 1920s vintage carriages of the “Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits et des grands express européens” restored wagons of the famous Orient Express. The initiative is carried out by Arsenale spa, an Italian company in the hospitality sector, with Trenitalia (FS Italiane Group).
There will be three dedicated itineraries on the island. The five trains, currently under construction according to the Italian design of the 1960s, will be ready to depart in two years. They will cover sixteen thousand kilometers of railway lines from north to south of the Peninsula and will cross fourteen regions. Both the itineraries, the haute cuisine menu, created in collaboration with the best chefs and bartenders, and the design are very Italian. And, of course, the name chosen for the project: “The Train of the Dolce Vita” which recalls the great eclectic, artistic and cinematographic fervor of the years of the economic boom. So tourists will travel aboard carriages inspired by the Italian design of the sixties and seventies, by the influences of the great creatives such as Carlo Scarpa, Gio Ponti, Piero Fornasetti and Ignazio Gardella. The furniture design will merge together with the art of Fontana, Bonalupi, Castellani and many other masters of Italian Spatialism.
To involve the territory of the Valle dei Templi Tourist District they will be “Sicilia da bere”, an enological and gastronomic itinerary from western Sicily to eastern Sicily which will also touch Licata and Butera, and “Baroque Sicily”, an itinerary to discover the beauties of Sicilian Baroque which will also touch Caltanissetta.
“We are proud to be able to communicate that the tour della Dolce Vita in 2023 will affect our places – he says Fabrizio La Gaipa, administrator of the Valley of the Temples Tourism District -. This is a very high level initiative that involves the most beautiful places in Italy. Our territory, even more and even better, must be ready, hospitable, welcoming and organized to welcome these and all the other travelers who want to honor it with their visit “.
