The ASP of Palermo has activated the first territorial clinic for the positioning of peripheral insertion vascular catheters at the PTA Center in via Turrisi Colonna, such as PICC (Peripherally Inserted Central Cathter), Mid-line and PICC-Port.
These are catheters that are placed in the veins of the arm using an ultrasound method, to allow the administration of intravenous therapy to patients with a “poor” venous bed who must continue the therapeutic, nutritional and chemotherapy pathway.

All activities are ensured by properly trained nursing staffin possession of certification which, through adequate training, certifies the acquisition of specific skills in the positioning and management of vascular access.

The new structure – activated this morning in the presence of, among others, the Director General, Daniela Faraoni, the Health Director, Franco Cerrito, the Director of the Primary Care Department, Salvo Vizzi and the Director of the PTA Center, Francesco Cascio – is located inside of the nursing clinic dedicated to chronicity.
The clinic, which can be accessed with a prescription from the General Practitioner, is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 to 13.
