The Region is ready for a confrontation with businesses and trade unions to put a stop to white deaths, accidents at work. «I express my deepest condolences – declares the regional councilor for productive activities, Edy Tamajo – to the family of Angelo Salamone, the worker who died while working in the shipyards of Palermo, and to the family of Michele Pisciotta, who lost his life last November 30, falling from a scaffolding in the Sicilian capital. One cannot and should not die working».
For Tamajo «this dramatic event must push institutions at all levels and for their respective competences even more to commit themselves to safety at work which represents the absolute priority over any other value. That of the white deaths is an emergency that must constantly remain in everyone’s attention. The institutions must not let their guard down”. Tamajo declares himself «at the disposal of trade unions and trade associations for a fruitful collaboration. Today is not the day to make controversies, today is the day of pain, pain that must make everyone reflect on how to avoid these accidents, not reduce them because even if only one person dies from work, it will still be unacceptable ».
