Vincenzo Gulino of the Crotone Sailing Club and the Ferroni-Verna couple of the Chiavari Naval League were the protagonists of the eighth edition of Una Vela without exclusions which ended today in the Gulf of Palermo.

The event organized by the Italian Naval League section of Palermo saw the Paralympic class Hansa 303 racing in the Sicilian capital.
And after two days heavily conditioned by strong winds and difficult weather and sea conditions (yesterday the athletes did not go into the water), the event was decided with two regattas that were held in the morning.

Gulino recovers and wins

Vincenzo Gulino won among the singles thanks to two victories in today’s regattas.
The standard bearer of the Crotone Sailing Club scored three points being able to discard the fifth place of the second test on Friday.

In second place Carmelo Forastieri, protagonist in the first two tests, of the Italian Naval League Palermo section who scored 6 points after having obtained a second place, a first and two thirds.

In third position Giuseppe Di Salvo, also of the Italian Naval League Palermo with 33 points.

Ferroni-Verna excels in the double

The pair of the Chiavari Naval League formed by Ferroni and Verna won the hard-fought competition between the doubles.
For them 11 total points after 4 overall tests.
A razor-sharp success on the home duo Capone-Gippetto, second with 12 points and Privitera-Bruno (Vela Club Cefalù) who have an extra length.

Tisci, “Positive balance”

The president of the Italian Naval League of Palermo draws a positive balance for the event now in its tenth year of life and the eighth edition which for the occasion was also valid for the Sicily-Calabria inter-zone championship of the Hansa 303 class.
boats of Hansa 303 again in the Sicilian capital after the world championships in October 2021.
Also a sigh of relief for having been able to compete in a total of 4 races that have embellished the competitive side of Una Vela without excluding 2022.

“A very successful event – underlines Tisci – with four tests which also included a gap.
The boys were absolutely up to the task despite the bad weather.
We plan to do many more and certainly it has now become a classic of Sicilian Paralympic activity but also national in consideration of the high number of athletes from other regions coming to Palermo.
We are ready to welcome athletes and we are aware that we have no limits in terms of organization.
A Vela without exclusions can only continue to grow in the future thanks also to the many sponsors who follow us “.

A sail without exclusions at the Royal Palace

Not only sport at the eighth edition of Una Vela without excluded.
The crews from all over Italy taking part in the sailing event visited the Royal Palace in the historic center of the Sicilian capital, guests of the Federico II Foundation.

Today’s initiative was born by chance at Casa Minutella from an idea of Patrizia Monterosso, director general of the Foundation, and Beppe Tisci, president of the Lega Navale Section of Palermo which has been organizing A Sail Without Exclusions for 10 years.

Yesterday morning a large representation of athletes from the Hansa 303 Paralympic sailing class lived a few hours in the name of culture and history in full symbiosis with the attitudes of Palermo.
The athletes thus visited the beauties of the Royal Palace, from the Palatine Chapel, passing through the apartments and places where regional politics is the protagonist, up to the Steve McCurry exhibition.

A partnership born almost by chance born in Casa Minutella and it is fantastic to seize this opportunity and allow the Italian teams to visit this monumental building.
I wish there were people as sensitive as it was on this occasion.

“A beautiful and totally accessible path”

Beppe Tisci then commented on the morning spent at the Royal Palace.
“We made a nice and totally accessible route.
I recommend it to all children in wheelchairs but also to those temporarily disabled.
They have the opportunity here to visit the palace, almost all the rooms.
The staff are excellent with a typical Sicilian welcome.
Palazzo Reale a really great monument “.

Una Vela senza excluded is organized by the Italian Naval League, on behalf of the Fiv (the Sailing Federation), with the patronage of the Municipality of Palermo with the collaboration of the Panathlon Club Palermo, Civico Di Cristina Benfratelli, Rotary District 2110 Club Palermo Ovest, Multiple Sclerosis Onlus .
