Water rationing in Ficarazzi and Portella di Mare: one day a week without water
Starting from October 30th, residents of the municipality of Ficarazzi and the Portella di Mare hamlet, in the municipality of Misilmeri, will face an important water rationing measure, as announced by Amap in a statement. The new plan involves suspending water supply for one day a week, “a necessary decision to address the current water crisis affecting the region.”
The administration stated that the measure was adopted in response to a significant decrease in water reserves, resulting from a particularly dry summer combined with an increase in water demand for domestic and agricultural use.
Authorities have urged citizens to use water more consciously and responsibly, suggesting them to store water in advance to face the rationing day. Additionally, checks are planned to monitor any waste and ensure compliance with the measures.
The implementation of this plan has raised concerns among residents, who fear that rationing may continue beyond the autumn season. However, the administration has reassured that they are working to find long-term solutions for water resource management.
