9 more boats arrive at Lampedusa

Another 9 boats, all departed from Sfax, Tunisia, with a total of 422 migrants on board, were intercepted and rescued by the Coast Guard and the Finance Guard speedboats in the waters off Lampedusa. Since midnight, the number of arrivals in Lampedusa has reached 1,213 people. The latest boats carried a minimum of 37 people and a maximum of 69, including women and children, from countries such as Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Mali, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Senegal, Liberia, Benin, Syria, and Gambia. All new arrivals have already been taken to the contrada Imbriacola hotspot.
