5 more landings in Lampedusa, over 1,600 migrants in hotspot

Another 195 migrants have arrived in Lampedusa: four boats were rescued by the coast guard and finance guard, while one was intercepted by the Romanian Frontex team at the entrance of the port. As of now, a total of 304 North Africans have landed on the island. The boats departed from Sfax in Tunisia, carrying a minimum of 11 Tunisians and a maximum of 50 people from Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Guinea Bissau, Mali, Sierra Leone, and Gambia, including women and children. The migrants have been brought to the Imbriacola hotspot, where there are currently 1,616 guests, including 124 unaccompanied minors. In the morning, 379 migrants were transferred to Porto Empedocle, and another 200 guests will be escorted to the port, where they will board the Cossyra ferry heading to Porto Empedocle early tomorrow morning, as per the orders of the Agrigento Prefecture.
