37 migrants arrive in Portopalo, alleged smuggler arrested.

The Mobile Squad agents in Siracusa have arrested a 58-year-old Egyptian man who had illegally returned to Italy, as he was the recipient of an expulsion order issued by the local police chief in February of last year. According to the police, the man was among the 37 migrants who arrived yesterday at the port of Portopalo di Capo Passero in Siracusa and were subsequently transferred to the commercial port of Augusta. The public prosecutor of Siracusa ordered that the arrested individual be released, allowing for his expulsion from Italy. At the same time, the Egyptian man was detained for the crime of facilitating illegal immigration, as he was identified as the smuggler of the approximately 10-meter boat that set off from the Libyan coast and arrived in the early hours of yesterday morning in Portopalo di Capo Passero. The man has been taken to the Siracusa prison.
