The trial in first instance at the Trapani court, which stemmed from an investigation into the redevelopment of the port of Castellammare del Golfo, ended with 7 acquittals and 2 convictions. The case began with the bankruptcy of companies connected to the port redevelopment contract. 7 years after the “Dirty Affairs” operation, only Rosario Agnello and Domenico Parisi were convicted to 3 years and 6 months in prison each. Several others, including the former deputy mayor of Alcamo, were acquitted. The trial focused on the fraudulent bankruptcy of the companies involved in the port redevelopment contract, with allegations of embezzlement and financial mismanagement. The investigation revealed significant cash withdrawals and checks totaling over half a million euros from one of the companies.
