The Carabinieri of the provincial command of Catania, with the support of specialized units, are executing a precautionary custody order issued by the judge of the capital of Catania for 14 people investigated, in various capacities, for association aimed at trafficking, possession, and trafficking of drugs. Over a hundred military personnel are involved in Operation Fossa dei leoni II in the provinces of Catania, Palermo, Cosenza, and Enna. The investigation, coordinated by the antimafia district directorate of Catania and carried out by the carabinieri of the Fontanarossa company, has dismantled a flourishing drug-selling area located in the Librino district of Catania, known as Fossa dei leoni, historically linked to the Cappello clan. Many countermeasures were used by the pushers to avoid being caught by the police while ensuring a constant supply of crack, cocaine, and marijuana to numerous buyers. The carabinieri arrested 26 people, seized approximately 67 kg of drugs, mainly marijuana, two pistols, a rifle, and various calibers of ammunition.
