Sport and solidarity in Cefalù: Half marathon against leukemia – winners announced.
The fifth Half Marathon Perla del Tirreno took place in Cefalù, Sicily, in support of Aslti, an association fighting against leukemia and childhood cancer. The race was part of the Grand Prix Sicilia 2023 circuit and saw over 5,000 meters repeated four times for a total of 21 kilometers. Andrea Soffientini, from Asd Dinamo Sport, took first place for the men, while Maria Grazia Billello, from Universitas Palermo, triumphed among the women. The event also honored the memory of don Pasquale Pagliudo, who passed away two years ago in Turin. Before the race, a minute of silence was observed, with proceeds from the event going towards the pediatric oncohematology ward at the Civico hospital in Palermo. The organizers, Pietro Saja and Daniela Cassataro, have been long-time supporters of Aslti’s projects and symbolically dedicated the race to the children in their care.
